So Where In The World Is Bali?

Bali is an Indonesian island located 8 degrees south of the equator in the Java Sea. Bali is located 4,555 kilometers (2,830 miles) from Australia, between the Indonesian islands of Lombok and Java. Bali is an Indonesian province that is approximately 153 kilometers wide and 112 kilometers high, with a total land area of approximately 5,780 square kilometers (2,231 square miles). Denpasar, Bali’s largest and capital city, is located in the island’s south.

Bali is located north of Australia, south of Malaysia, south east of Singapore, and west of Indonesia. Bali has a population of approximately 4.22 million people, with the majority of people practicing Balinese Hinduism and the remainder mostly practicing Islam, though other religions are practiced on the island, including Christianity. Balinese, Javanese, Madurese, and Baliaga are the island’s major ethnic groups.

Bali is Indonesia’s largest and most popular tourist destination, attracting thousands of visitors each year due to its developed art, culture, and leisure scenes. Ubud, Kuta, Seminyak, Legian Nusa Dua, and Sanur are the main areas of Bali.

The islands of Lombok, Nusa Dua, and the Gili Islands are about 200 kilometers from the mainland. While these areas are not technically considered to be part of Bali, they are still wonderful and convenient places to visit during your Bali vacation.

There are several ways to get to Lombok, Nusa Dua, and the Gili Islands, including airplane, charter boat, and fast boat. The flight time from Denpasar to Lombok is approximately 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there are no flights to the Gili Islands or Nusa Dua, but there are fast boats from the mainland and Lombok airport. Consult our Getting to Bali guide for more information on getting to the islands.

Best Time To Visit Bali

When planning your tropical Bali vacation, it’s critical to know when the best times to visit are. Although Bali is a beautiful destination to visit all year, there are a few factors that may influence your travel plans. Peak seasons, weather forecasts, accommodation and flight prices, as well as which destinations you want to visit, all play a role in your vacation planning. Consider the following factors when deciding when you believe is the best time to visit Bali.

Bali’s peak season lasts from early July to the end of August. This is the most popular time to visit, but it is also the most crowded and expensive. The Bali climate is in its dry season during July and August, and rain is less likely. It is also the time when many families travel to Bali to take advantage of the school holidays. Off peak season is typically between October and March, when regions are less crowded and lodging prices are lower.

Although surfing in Bali is great all year, certain hot spots perform better in different weather conditions. Surfing is best on the west coast from April to October, while the east coast is better from November to March. Surprisingly, the dry season is more popular for surfing, but it is also the busiest.
